My name is Ascenett and I want to welcome you to my blog! Here I will be posting about my journey towards obtaining my master’s degree in either International Relations or European Studies from a UK university.

I am going to tell you a bit about myself. I am 23, almost 24 years old and I am originally from Puerto Rico, but raised in Georgia since I was 13. I graduate with a Bachelor of Arts from Georgia State University in History with a minor in Spanish and International Relations. I currently live in Orlando, Florida with my mother and younger brother.

During the Fall semester of my junior year I took a required social science class for my major: Global Issues. Which was the class that got me interested in International Relations. I ended up studying abroad at the University of Nottingham in the UK, and getting a double minor in Spanish and International Relations. During my last semester in university I was part of the Model United Nations Delegation and had the opportunity to learn more about the international community and represent a country (Sudan in U.N.I.D.O committee; we won Distinguished Delegation Award at SRMUN)

After graduating in December 2013, I moved to Orlando, FL to do the Disney College Program (a front line operations internship) for the whole 2014 year as I kept extending my program. I delayed my desire to get my masters to do this program and to help my family financially. In other words, I took a 2 year Gap year between undergrad and postgrad. But now it is time for me to go back to school, and ASAP.

This blog will follow my journey to my masters, from figuring out which schools I am going to apply for to personal statement and letters of recommendation to submitting the applications and waiting for resultsand hopefully getting accepted to the programs. I will also be throwing in some TBT to my study abroad from Spring2013 to look forward to what I will go back to. In addition, I will be talking about scholarships, federal loans for US students wanting to study in a foreign country, and the visa process.

I will try to update this weekly starting August 1st, but you never know. I can’t wait to start this blog and my journey towards my masters.

Sorry for the super long post, but hey it’s the first one!

Hope you all enjoy the blog!
